"The Veldt" Summary
A brief summary of the short story “The Veldt” is George and Lydia have it all, and that's exactly what they've given their children. The couple have purchased a house that does everything for you for only $30,000.00. It cooks your food, it does your laundry, and it dresses you. Breakfast, lunch, dinner is all served to you. You are washed and bathed, massaged and cuddled, rocked to sleep, and yet, they've even upgraded by adding an enormous nursery. The nursery can be anything the kids desire. It can be the beach or a fairy tale. They can travel anywhere they'd like, experience anything the world has to offer, and do it all from the enormous addition that was made to their home. The room comes complete with wind, hot sun. You'd never know the places were real or not. The parents, George and Lydia, soon realize that there is something wrong with their way of life.
